A small lot of Grade A Tanzanian Coffee from the region of Oldeani, Karatu, Manyara.
An absolute Gem from Tanzania. Slightly chocolaty nose before brewing. A great body for an African coffee, creamy and intense. The cup is clean, bright and well balanced. Lovely lingering, slightly gamey, aftertaste with undertones of dark chocolate.
Growing coffee in shaded conditions have numerous benefits. Increased yields in production volume, greater resistance to frost, increased bird activity, reduced pesticide use and we think a slightly nicer cup too.
Brews best though traditional filter methods, pour-over, chemex, v60 etc.
Not a traditional espresso coffee but it will throw out some very interesting flavours if you are willing to give it a try. The chocolate notes intensify and you'll get lots more acidity. If acidity in espresso is not your thing then we wouldn't recommend it.

I absolutely love this coffee - loads of flavour and just strong enough to mean you can have a few cups a day! It's replaced Yirgacheffe as my favourite brew!
Lovely, velvety flavour.
Very impressive. Full-bodied and complex, without being too acidic. We had it in the Aeropress, and we usually prioritise new coffees, but we ordered two batches of this.
A little bitter, and without the aromatic notes of some other pumphreys coffees for espresso making
